Carrying on from a recent Poll on this site, "What is your Favourite Gag?", I thought I'd put up a few images illustrating the various types out there.

There's probably a few more as well, but I ran out of options!

 Starting off with the good ol'Ball Gag.

This particular one is solid and helps keep noise down to a minimum. A ball gag with holes in allows easier breathing, but can be noisier and messier as it allows drooling!

 
 Next up is the basic cleve gag, this can be just a strip of material long enough to go around the head and into the mouth, ie: cleve the mouth, and tied off behind the head. An alternative is the gag is knotted in the center first, then applied to the muffle noise. The usual detctive movie gag.

Next one up is an inflatable gag which is placed in the mouth and , obviously, inflated to keep one quiet. Some come with straps, this one illustrated doesn't.

The ultimate disorentating gag has to be a full head hood complete with penis gag and blindfold. The hood fits over the head and is usually leather, zipped and laced up at the rear with a strong strap that fastens around the neck. All in all, you are helpless once this is placed on, deaf, dumb and blind and if it has a lockable nect strap, it is on until your master/mistress unlocks it as it is very difficult to find the key from where you left it BEFORE your bondage session started and before you got all hot and sweaty. If your hands are tied/bound behind your back, nearly impossible to unlock without freeing a hand and you are probably short of oxygen by now too.

The muzzle gag is one that can be a gag on it's own, or one that incorporates an over the head fastening, like the one below. The ball gag is part of the muzzle or it can also include a penis type gag were a ball or penis shape is instered into the mouth before the straps are fastened in place, making it one that muffles most if not all sound and stays in place until you are ready to release the straps.

The Ring Gag is one where a ring on a strap is placed in the mouth forcing it to stay open throughout. Noise is not muffled and drooling is a given, however, the wearer is unable to close their mouth and within reason anything can be placed in the mouth. Warning: Too much, too far can cause gag reflex and can be fatal.

And finally, the classic duct tape gag! Basic tape gag is a single strip of tape, duct tape, parcel tape, bondage tape, often 50mm/2" wide and simple placed over the mouth. Simple, but not too effective and can cause tearing and bleeding of the flesh on the lips when removed/ripped off.

A better method is to allow the use of lipstick or lip salve before the gag is applied for lip protection, then a strip of tape is applied over the mouth, followed by one or two further strips, either in line, or to form a cross over the original tape. A further strip from ear to ear under the jaw will further restrict movement of the mouth, thus keeping the noise down a bit.
